At the time I was scraping through Jeff Jarvis‘ New Media Class at the Legendary CUNY J-School.Sunset Park, where Silent Knight had spent a good part of his youth, was the meeting point on this cruel unrelenting evening. We were scheduled to do a video interview for about 20 minutes and then go about on our ways. The thing that struck me upon that meeting 5 years ago is what strikes me now, this is a person who devotes the best part of his energies, intelligence, soul and creativity to developing the art, craft and form of hip hop. Few artists, journalists, musicians, or even political leaders I’ve met in my 10+ years of journalism have exemplified anywhere near a comparable work ethic. |
